SUMMARY:Online Workshop: Air Quality Policy Evaluation Tool
DESCRIPTION:You are warmly invited to attend an online workshop on the new “Air Quality Policy Evaluation Tool (AQ-PET)” on 20th July (9-11)\, organised by the University of Birmingham. AQ-PET has been developed jointly by air quality scientists and economists at the University of Birmingham\, with the intention of significantly increasing the ease and accuracy of air quality policy evaluations.Evaluating the real (causal) impacts of air quality policies\, such as the clean air zone or traffic control\, is an essential part of air quality management. This is challenging because both (1) meteorology and (2) emission changes unrelated to the policy\, can have a major impact on air pollution levels. These confounders must be accounted for before a causal impact can be identified. Our AQ-PET tool applies auto-machine learning tools to remove the weather impacts and a synthetic control method to predict “business as usual” air pollution levels. The tool is designed to be easy to use with no need for prior knowledge in machine learning or synthetic control\, or programming skills. The tool will provide a range of figures / tables that you can use for reporting purposes.During this workshop we will explain the concept behind the free\, open-access tool (see attached briefing note)\, demonstrate how to prepare the data for the tool and how to choose parameters\, and what outcomes you will be able to obtain. We are also keen to hear feedback from you during the workshop to help us to improve the tool. Please register using the Eventbrite link >>A zoom link will be sent to you prior to the event date.
