Bill Bloss (WM-Air Project PI) and Catherine Muller (WM-Ar Project Manager) welcomed a group of councillors from across the West Midlands on Thursday 30th January. The event was also attended by representatives from Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) and the Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB).
Cllr Richard Worrall (Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council), Cllr Kath Hartley (Birmingham City Council) and Cllr Celia Hibbert (City of Wolverhampton Council) were interested in finding out about the air quality research conducted in GEES, particularly the NERC-funded WM-Air project (‘Clean Air Science for the West Midlands’).
There was also an opportunity to visit the new Birmingham Air Quality Supersite (BAQS) [pictured above].
The visitors found the day very interesting and informative and the councillors intend to share the knowledge with their fellow councillors on the West Midlands Combined Authority’s (WMCA) Transport Delivery Committee.
