WM-Air Newsletter Issue 5
On Wednesday 26th January, Bill Bloss and Catherine Muller, together with Stuart Hillmansen from the Railway Centre, held a webinar for a group of councillors from the WMCA Transport Delivery Committee’s (TDC) Air Quality, Congestion and Environmental Impact Member Engagement Group (MEG). The event was attended by Jake Thrush from Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) along with 11 Councillors including Cllr Kath Hartley (Birmingham councillor and Co-Chair of the TDC MEG), Cllr Chaman Lal (Birmingham councillor and Co-Chair of the TDC MEG), Cllr Celia Hibbert (Wolverhampton Council), Cllr Richard Worrall (Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council), Cllr Pervez Ahktar (Coventry councillor), Cllr Linda Bigham (Coventry councillor), Cllr David Stanley (Dudley councillor) and Cllr Robert Grinsell (Solihull councillor). The group were interested in finding out about the air quality research conducted in GEES, particularly WM-Air, along with exploring opportunities and future priorities, such as the shift in focus to PM2.5 and how the WMCA will need to work at the regional level in order to reduce particulates. The delegates found the session very insightful, with a number of follow-up opportunities highlighted, and there were some excellent, well-informed questions for the hosts. |
