The WM-Air project has supported development of a new Air Quality Framework, now formally adopted by WMCA board to enable future air quality actions. A successful partnership with WMCA through an extended, co-funded policy placement led to development of an underpinning technical Air Quality Options Paper which informed development of this policy. The Framework positions the region to deliver science-informed Clean Air policies, specifically focusing upon PM2.5 where regional actions can be effective, and links the science understanding provided through WM-Air with policy shifts arising from the 2021 Environment Act. WM-Air will now work with WMCA support the development of actions within the new Framework. |
